Yoga is a wholistic practice bringing together the many dimensions of who we are: heart, soul, mind and strength. We bring these together that we may in the totality of our being love God completely. We are indeed fearfully and wonderfully made. Consider yoga as whole person therapy.
I lead two classes with the Church that is Christ Community Wesleyan Church, both of which have a spiritual formation focus to them, using yoga as a practice to be formed into the image of Christ.
5:00-5:45 Adaptive yoga for people with disabilities and limited abilities
I am an Opening Yoga Instructor through MindBody Solutions and have led adaptive yoga classes for people with disabilities for 4+ years. This class is specifically for people with physical or mental limitations who need the help of an assistant in some form. This may be a full assist or a partial assist. Just because someone experiences life through these kind of limitations does not mean the mind-body connection cannot happen. Adaptive yoga can help with this. People who want to join this class as assistants are welcome to do so.
6:00-7:00 Traditional yoga class with limited assist
This class is for people who have some facility with their body. They are able to enter basic poses with little assistance and may already have a yoga practice. Beginners are welcome in this class.
All classes will have Christian spiritual formation focus to them which will include biblical meditations, prayer, silence and song. It is intentionally structured to draw us closer to God and to one another.
